Professional Development Program in AI and Data Analytics Held at the Bureau’s Information and Computing Center
The Information and Computing Center of the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan has completed a four-day professional development program in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics. Held from September 8 to 11, 2026, the program was aimed at strengthening employees’ digital competencies and promoting the practical use of modern IT tools in their professional activities.
The program was implemented as part of the Center’s strategic efforts to digitalize business processes, develop human capital, and improve the efficiency of data management. The training comprised 28 academic hours, combining theoretical sessions with hands-on exercises in a specially prepared digital environment.
The educational program was divided into two thematic modules.
The first two-day course, “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning,” took place on September 8–9. The sessions were conducted by Evgeny Arzamastsev, Senior Data Science Expert at Yandex Practicum, an IT professional with more than 20 years of industry experience.
During the module, participants explored the principles behind large language models, the capabilities and limitations of generative artificial intelligence, as well as practical applications of chatbots, AI assistants, and autonomous AI agents.
Particular attention was paid to the secure use of artificial intelligence technologies, including information protection, compliance with confidentiality requirements, verification of AI-generated outputs, assessment of required computing resources, and options for deploying AI models locally within an isolated corporate environment using the OpenWebUI interface.
The second course, “Data Analysis and Preparation,” was held on September 10–11. It was delivered by Alexander Wald, Senior Expert for the Data Analyst course at Yandex Practicum, Head of Wilde.tech, and a Yandex GR speaker with extensive experience in delivering educational programs for representatives of government institutions.
Participants studied the full data lifecycle, from identifying data sources and assessing data quality to performing ETL transformations, descriptive analysis, and visualization of results. Practical sessions included dataset audits, development of analytical data marts, working with databases including ClickHouse, and preparing analytical findings and recommendations to support management decision-making.
The practical component of the training was conducted exclusively using educational datasets. No personal or confidential information was used during the sessions, ensuring full compliance with established information security requirements.
Upon completion of the program, participants gained practical skills in applying artificial intelligence and data analytics tools that can be used to optimize business processes, improve the efficiency of analytical activities, and enhance the quality of data processing.
All participants who successfully completed the program received electronic certificates from Yandex, confirming completion of the professional development course.
