On June 29, 2026, an official study visit by a delegation from Kazakhstan’s Bureau of National Statistics to the Ministry of Data and Statistics of the Republic of Korea (MODS) commenced. The program is being implemented with the support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Kazakhstan and South Korea have built a strong foundation for technological cooperation. Between 2012 and 2017, Korean expertise contributed to Kazakhstan’s successful implementation of modern online data collection systems. The current visit marks a new stage in this partnership, focusing on the practical application of Korea’s experience in artificial intelligence, big data, and the modernization of infrastructure for data collection and processing.

The training program is being held at the Government Complex in Daejeon and will continue through July 2. As part of the visit, the delegation will also visit the Human Resources Development Institute and the Chungcheong Regional Statistics Office to learn about Korea’s approach to developing skilled IT and data professionals.

The program also represents an important step in the preparations for the inaugural Korea–Central Asia Summit, scheduled to take place in September this year. On the sidelines of the Summit, the two sides plan to sign a Memorandum of Understanding that will formalize and strengthen strategic IT cooperation between Kazakhstan and South Korea in the field of data.

Ahn Hyung-joon, Minister of Data and Statistics of the Republic of Korea (MODS), noted: “Kazakhstan is our key strategic partner in the region. This study visit will elevate technological cooperation between our institutions to a new level, which we look forward to formally reinforcing at the September Summit.”
